I agree on the shoes - looks really great @Ken P . @Cotton Dockers great to pull out last seasons' ripstop Bedford. Such a great piece. I can only assume that the facial hair is inspired by @eluther [IMG]

    Thanks!

Glad to hear that. I think I'm just tired of wearing them. I've been wearing them for two weeks straight (and it looks like I have at least another week of wearing them ahead of me).

SZ is a web site, and its rules have nothing to do with this conversation. None of those rules apply to SF or the real world. It's just a dumb web site.

If someone wore a tight Yohji outfit and came in hear looking amazing, any criticism of the outfit because he's not wearing Yohji like everyone else would get shot down. We truly only have one rule here and that is to look good. It's like playing in a Jazz improv band. The only rule is to sound good. That doesn't mean the rules of musical theory don't apply. Of course there are principles that we follow here, like wearing Yohji loose. But it's all open to interpretation.

MC casual is not MC. It's just your version of SW&D. Of course your rules don't apply to that. This conversation is about dressing casually vs dressing formally and the difficulties of each.

I think the main difference between the difficulty in the two styles is that with MC you can always tweak your outfit according to the recommendations of people who know what they are doing and end up looking good. Then you can transpose those corrections onto your next outfit, and the next, and build a wardrobe. In SW&D, you just can't do that. There are always a bunch of different directions you can go in and it is very rarely a matter of taking the existing piece to the tailor. You have to develop your own eye and your own style or you will continue to flail.

Caveat is right on the sz front, but to clarify it wasn't purely just a label thing -- most people that commented weren't particularly taken with the actual fit either.

You're right about SZ of course, it's not SF so I shouldn't have brought it up. It's just that many of the posters who are into that sort of aesthetic seem to hang out there as well.

I don't agree with the statement about MC casual not being MC though, you can't just exclude a big chunk of what is generally referred to as classic menswear just to make a point.

Also, come to think of it, I should have added Sapeur to the different takes on MC.

MC casual seems to be mostly unflattering business casual or an attempt to follow CM convention outside of a suit.
