Tried on the new Rolex Daytona 126500LN today. Wears slightly bigger than the 116500LN, but still wears really nice and compact. I probably prefer the feel of the prior iteration but may just be in my head. I think I prefer the aesthetics of the new one.

But… I had some sticker shock. $15,100 MSRP, or $16,000+ after taxes. That is pretty darn steep.

Love the dial and that it's titanium. The size kills it for me, but it looks great on you. Enjoy it!

42mm version just announced.

Looks pretty good to me. I would miss the stepped dial but seems like some have been granted their wish.

Okay, I'll admit I like the MoonSwatch Snoopy. I won't buy it because I already own the Mission to Mars and don't need multiple MoonSwatches in my collection, but it will sell like hotcakes.

wow, only two years and (presumably) no buying history? you certainly are lucky! ;)
Oh times were very different. It took me over 2 years to find this place, and get a black dial steel Daytona... and get this...NO WAITING LIST!!! I showed up a week before classes in August. Obviously, I went to check out my local watch shops. I stopped in at a small Rolex AD that is now long gone. I looked around, tried on a few things chatted with the owner. I asked about a wait list for steel Daytonas. The owner said, I don't do wait lists. He said, it's first come first serve. I haven't had one in about a year. Check back with me around the holidays.

So its about mid December, and I had a study session coming up before finals, later in the afternoon. I call the AD and ask, do you have any black dial steel Daytonas. He said, I just got one yesterday. It's in the window. I said, would you hold it for me to come and look at it. He said, get down here fast. I went and there is was. No purchase history, no wait list. Initially, he started to say, well I want $500 over list, the last guy I sold one to flipped it in less than 24 hours. I don't like that. I told him this is my grail watch, I have no intention of selling it, I have a Submariner that I'll have to sell to pay for part of it. He thought about it, and backed off and said, "I'll sell it to you for list, but I better not find out you sold it the very next day!" I like to think he'd be happy, I kept my word and still have it and still love it.

Do any ADs have a "no flipping" term for a set number of years in their contract of sale? It's quite common in the art world. I suppose it's easier to enforce with unique items.

AD’s are the biggest flippers. All those hard to find watches that you see on Chrono24/Ebay etc didn’t fall off the back of a truck (at least not all of them). There are currently a few hundred new Nautilus on chrono24. Some are probably fake/franken. Some are retail flippers. But most are coming from AD’s. Patek claims they buy watches from Chrono24 and then do an audit trail of the watch but they ain’t going to cutoff all the AD’s that sell on there. Rolex/AP, same thing.
