No, I actually prefer the straight strap end on the original Aquanaut.

That said, an integrated rubber bracelet is by nature a different animal versus a leather strap.

Aesthetically, curved strap ends are ******* horrible. A solution in a search of a problem.

I think it's highly dependent on the watch. On something like a Datejust it just looks like a bit of a fudge as you're only doing it because it will ruin a normal strap, but it lacks design cohesiveness.

Whereas on something like a Ming watch, where the curved strap is an intentional aspect of the design, it looks great.

Meh. I’ve never seen a curved leather strap that I think looks anything but highly affected, fussy, and ill-conceived. Leather, as a traditional, imperfect material, doesn’t jive with the integrated strap/bracelet approach, which requires precision only possible with something like rubber or metal to pull off.

For example, Nautiluses and Royal Oaks on leather straps look ******* hideous. Without fail.

I would agree with you on the Nautilus and Royal Oak front, those are more about integrating the leather rather than just making the ends curved. I don't think the curve on this Ming watch looks particularly fussy though, at least not more than the overall design as whole does.

Don't use curved-leather straps when straight ones are more appropriate and don't use "jive" to mean "jibe" when trying to articulate the point.

Agreed, the Nautilus and the Royal Oak were designed with an integrated bracelet and a leather strap looks inappropriate and somehow distorts the nature and style of those watches. Not so in the case of a Datejust.

I have this Eterna Vaughan Big Date, that looks gorgeous to me.
