For the guy who was asking about the janky second hand on his Octo Finissimo, mine was the same way. I didn’t ask Bulgari about it. But I have a GP that exhibits the same behavior. When I had that watch serviced about 10 years ago, I asked about it and the GP watch maker told me it was due to the small seconds being driven indirectly as I recall so there is some play in the gears. I don’t have that email anymore unfortunately, but maybe that is the same reason for the Octo. I sold mine, but it is a terrific watch. I wouldn’t let that spoil your enjoyment. Great pick up.

You are a bigger man than I. I sent it back for repair - thereby commencing the 6-8 week wait. Watchmaker for retailer confirmed an issue. Maybe I’ll get some freebie. A wee bit frustrated, but I guess these things happen.

One of the reasons I sent it back is the power reserve seemed to be impacted by the defect.

Any of you recommend someone to clean and service a vintage watch? I have a JLC from the 50’s that needs attention. I’ve always sent it back to JLC but I’m told it can be done for significantly less and just as well by a competent mechanical watch repair service. And what fee might one expect for a basic cleaning?

Nesbit's Fine Watch Service, in Seattle; assuming you're US-based

Classicwatch, a DC-based watch seller and repair shop that specializes in JLC. I don't have any experience with them, but they are highly regarded based on online reviews I've seen.

Do You Consider Sustainability When Purchasing Clothes?

  • Always - Sustainability is a top priority in all my clothing purchases.

  • Often - I frequently consider sustainability, but it isn't the main factor in my decisions.

  • Rarely - I seldom consider sustainability when purchasing clothes.

  • Never - Sustainability is not a factor I consider in my clothing choices.
