Hi all,

Ik if this fits into this category, however, I got puke a while ago on one of my favorite sweaters. It is 100% merino wool. I was wondering how do I wash it without altering/shrinking it?

All wool has a natural protective layer, so hopefully you can do with some spot cleaning. Use distilled or demi water, mix with about one third white vinegar and using a clean cloth or, even better, a natural sponge, just pat the spot(s), using not more than medium pressure (so as to avoid pressing the vomit into the fibres). Do not rub! You should hold a clean paper towel or clean piece of cotton (both without any artificial colouring or else the colour of the paper or cotton might get into the merino!) behind the spot whilst you're patting it, thus preventing that any of the dirt will be absorbed by the layer of the garment behind the spot that still is clean.
After thus soaking the spot, take a clean paper towel (bleached or without any artificial colouring!) and press against the spot, thus absorbing the water plus puke. Repeat if necessary.
If all of this does not work: rinse the whole garment in cold water, then add diluted white vinegar solution, then rinse thoroughly in cold water. If again not successful: bring it to the dry cleaners.

Apologies for my English, not my mother tongue.

So, there's something that has been bothering me since this morning. I was usually gettins a 35 trouser from Spier & Mackay but needed to make some alterations, shorten back rise and take in the seat. Today I tried on the ones I got in 34. I wasn't expecting for them to fit since they have 1" less in the hips and less space in the thighs, soI was thinking I might get some pocket flare. But to my surprise, they fit great! With the 35's I get a little bit of pocket flare in the right hip. That's what's been bothering my mind, how come, if it has more space, the pocket is flaring? When I pull the trousers from the frontwaistband the pocket gets in the right position. Don't know if I'm describing it well. Any ideas?

34 (Currently at the tailor getting cuffs)

35 (All of these have been already cleaned at the seat but I haven't take more pics)

This doesn't have that pocket flare

ooking for some insight and opinions between my first iteration of wool rich pants, and most recent ones:

I implemented the following changes on recommendation by luxire:

1) Increase back rise at crotch by +1.65cm
2) Decrease back length +0.65cm
3) Increase at knee/calf by +1.25cm
4) Increase thigh +1.25cm
5) Increase waist below waistband by +1.25cm at front (Fly is not appearing straight)
6) Increase seat +1.25cm
7) Decrease inseam at crotch by +0.635cm
8) scoop the back slightly

Ended up with the below, which is too baggy and messy in the back. Which modifications were not beneficial?

Is it possible for a tailor to salvage them back to a slimmer cut, and what would the changes be?

I also wonder if some of the changes were logged in inches and not cm? I see a mixture of both used, and not sure which is the preferred.

I'll likely have to revert to the previous pants and try again, which measurements changes should I make?

The first trousers clearly have a higher rise!

Is this generally salvageable or am I best returning it or not spending any more cash on it? The pants are yet to be hemmed.

To my eyes, the jacket would need to be let out through the body. It is also at least an inch too short, something which isn’t salvageable so you would have to be comfortable with that.

Puke is difficult to generalize because it very much depends on what the puker was eating—or drinking as the case may be. So red wine and pasta with tomato sauce puke will be a tougher stain than martini and a salad puke.

But all wool sweaters can be washed in the delicate cycle of a machine, or by hand in a tub or sink. Use cold water and mild detergent such as Woolite. Don’t spin dry or wring it out, just lay it flat to dry on a towel.

When feeling nauseated, remove those layers first.

I'm thinking of this Lazio-fit from Suitsupply. Any thoughts, aside from the fact that the sleeves need to be lengthened? I'm particularly wondering about jacket length and waist suppression. I will likely get the waist taken out just a tad.

Edit: crappy photo removed due to better photos in a subsequent post on this page.

Hi,
I just bought a gray SuitSupply Lazio in sizes 52 (regular) and 102 (long). What is your assessment of the fit? Which size would be the better option?

Should I keep one and have a tailor make the necessary adjustments? What adjustments have to be made?

I would really appreciate your feedback :)

First look...size 102 jacket length is longer. That is the one I would go with. Size 52 jacket is too short.

Thank you for your response! Apart from the length - is the fit of size 102 good enough to keep it or should I keep looking? What adjustments would my tailor have to make?

Size up and take in imo. Chest looks too tight. Shoulders look tight. Yes the waist will be large but you can take that in much more easily than you can the chest.

I think I will go with the grey pinstripe Lazio, but I wanted to get an opinion on the back. There are some minor undulations, and I'm unsure if I should ignore them, have the back tailored, or douse the whole thing in gasoline and set it on fire.

You need to have the tailor raise and shorten the collar. 102 looks better
