So, finally got my bourbon scotch grain Horween shell boots from the Rider GMTO. Have to say I really like the look of the scotch grain shell. There are a few mistakes where the dyer strayed onto the welt. But otherwise I’m happy with them. I got them feathered up to essentially a 9E width, and the fit is perfect. No, it’s gonna be a while, as the shell had to be ordered from scratch. I think March?

I see.

Well, the reason it took Rider so long to produce this one was the maker kept rejecting the hides from Horween. They did it twice I believe. The initial ones they received were too thin. These hides on my boots are pretty thick, so Horween finally got it right. But, they are really pliable, not necessarily soft but quite pliable. They feel almost unlined on my feet.

I've been waiting for my bourbon grain shell longings for the same reason. They should be here on Friday!

So I see this pair of shell boots in my size that I like for sale.

Some points.
Retail is $950 new from carmina no shoe trees.
I purchased a green pair from the outlet perfect for $665 no shoe trees.
The seller is asking $795 including the shoe trees however the one boot has the below issue.
He says he wore them 2 times and based on the pic of the soles that seems correct.

Looking for following advice.

Do you think the scrape will come out with a deer bone or other?
What about that little dent maybe push out with a long skinny rod?
Based on everything (including the damage) what would you say is the value of these boots, how much would you pay if this was your size and you wanted this boot?

Note besides the below pic the boots are in like new condition.

I think the scrape will clean up but always be there. That alone would have me offering 350, and would not likely go much higher. Depends on your motivation. Seller is craycray imo.

lol...BB you are craycray, but absolutely right. Then, there are people out there that will over pay for them. $795 would not even be something I would consider personally.

I too don’t believe that scratch can’t be eradicated, only disguised. I’d probably only be willing to let someone like Bedo’s work out that dimple though.

Check eBay sold history. There are perfect condition, less than 5 wears Carmina shell sold under 500. $350 will be the maximum anyone will pay. And that will be hard sell.

Thanks guys I was thinking $350 but did not want to influence anyone by stating it. I am going with the group and offering $350 lets see what the seller says.

I agree that even at $350 it's a hard sell with the damage.

Thanks
