Had dinner last night with friends - opened a pre-2003 magnum of Ariston Aspasie champagne, a Kosta Browne Santa Lucia Highlands single vineyard Pinot from 2013 and a Palmer Alter Ego from 2009.

Thought the KB was a great example of the house style. Thought the Palmer was a little straightforward for the second wine in a near-perfect year for the first. I'll likely hold my others for a while.

In Cabo this week and have been trying some local Baja producers as import prices are nuts. I liked this and the El Cielo wines the best.

Had a Garnacha from that area last time I was in San Diego. It was pretty drinkable.

So with Thanksgiving approaching, I thought I’d share what I’m planning on bringing for the day:

Gruet Blanc de Noirs NV
2011 Blackbird Vineyards Paramour
2015 Ridge Lytton Springs
2009 Chateau Guirard Sauternes

Thinking I might bring another red as well- maybe some Beaujolais Cru, not sure yet. Seeing what rest of family is bringing and then gauging.

Anybody else scheming on their line-up?

This was the night before pull from the cellar - have yet to be disappointed by aged Ridge. Tomorrow the plan is 79 caymus ss for the cab drinkers, going opposite end of the spectrum with Sandhi Sta Rita hills for the Pinot drinkers.

I'm bringing a couple bottles of 2015 Gap's Crown Kosta Browne. I think bourbon and Scotch will be flowing pretty well so not bringing more.

Probably just crack a 2012 Kutch. Late lunch mealtime so probably not many drinkers. I’ll probably have the bottle to myself.

Result!

Last weekend we bought a case of DDs to include a few vinho tintos. You know, as a DD with dinner, not bad stuff for $10-13 a bottle.
