I’ve never heard of that - that’s crazy to me (considering how specific some people’s wine tastes can be)

All of these online wine shops seem to be following a strategy of losing money upfront to acquire customers. That’s why I posted the links above for $100 off $300 at WineAccess. That’s crazy and unlikely to persist long term. So I signed up because the deals can’t last.

Wine.com is similar - Stewardship signup and $50 off plus the crazy coupons and cash back. Again, not sustainable. So I signed up for the short term

They refunds for bottles you don’t like? (Not bottles that are tainted/corked)
So they claim. I’d be too embarrassed to actually do that

They do. A friend who is a regular buyer rated a particular wine one star simply so he wouldn't accidentally buy it again from his list of already purchased wines. He had no intention of saying anything, and a month later, he realized that he was refunded.

Like you, I assume that liking and disliking wines is part of the dynamic. Sometimes you'll get a dud that just misaligns with your taste. Part of the adventure in trying new wine. I wouldn't take advantage of the refund for dislike, but I always appreciate when a company is THAT customer focused.

I still spend more money with my local wine store — Empire State of Wine for anyone in New York or who lives in a state that can receive wine from New York — but like having a terrific online store as well.

This is why it’s important to drink two bottles of each. It’s the scientific method. All credit to @NJE66.

When the pandemic ends, I'll organize a vertical tasting of Screaming Eagle. I'll just make participants chug a bottle of Everclear first.

Got the bottles from Rudy Kurniawan so I'm certain of their excellent quality.

As I am relatively new to this thread, here is another recent bottle. A pleasant surprise; an English Pinot Noir.
Not sure how easy they are to find outside the UK. Gusbourne also make excellent bubbels.
