In my opinion, South Africa does best with cool climate Syrah, Bordeaux blends and value Cab.

Don't they make some quality Chenin Blanc these days, what the locals call, "Steen?" I know they used to produce a lot of jug level quality Chenin but in 2019 I did a tasting of some quality stuff.

UPS finally found my house this week and didn’t break my shipment..

EDIT: really enjoying this for the price. I think is was less than $35 shipped. I’d feather have a bottle of this than two cheaper ones.

No shipping charge on a case or more. ;)

So the Grange was incredible. I mean 26 years old and this drank like a three year old, high quality Paso Syrah blend that needed another several years in the bottle. Zero bricking. Deep, inky colour, strong stewed prunes, menthol/eucalyptus, some licorice, and tannins smooth but very prevalent. We have two more bottles of the 95 and they're sleeping for another 10 years.

Interesting article in the AFR magazine on Friday about Penfolds California dreaming. The wines are being released in March. Don’t know if any will make their way to Oz
