Full canvas, Made in USA, pattern matching... what more do you want to classify it as a solid high-quality mid-level brand? Also, simply finding something that's not a 42 L in the thrift is well worth noting.

Overall quality was probably higher at all levels. I never bought the brand not because I was buying high end,
but because they never offered the Ivy-Preppie style that I preferred.

Stupendous finds, Spoo! Did you thrift or are you working on commission for them?

Thanks! These are from a consignor, yes.

I have been after a pair of 1930s Boots for years. These are the famous Regal brand in NOS 11D.. Quite a score when you look at the condition. I suspect they have always been wrapped up in a box and fairly airtight.

Can't wait till they arrive Down Under

I would be interested in seeing a hierarchy of vintage men’s clothing by brand. I know Sulka was very high end, but was Brioni always a top brand (I have a 70’s suit and they seem to be pretty proud of the fact its 100% wool)? I've found myself frequently going to the styleforum suit hierarchy and AAAC shoe pyramid whenever purchasing items on the bay. This sort of came up from a recent post in which one person referred to Botany 500 as a quality brand, whereas another poster thought it was pretty average. Was Armani every really a quality brand? Might a more experienced member start a pyramid?

As I recall, in the early 70s Brioni was touted as very high quality. When Barney's New York was transforming itself from a clothing discounter at the time, to a high-end
destination store, Brioni was featured in their "International Shop"
