Just purchased my first Nigel Cabourn shirt (with the tags) at the Goodwill in San Francisco for $10.99. I'm obviously pleased with this find.

Few interesting things from the past week or so, nothing earth-shattering. Ralph Lauren Country Hawaiian:

With all the talk of fake Hermes, I'm really regretting not stopping by their store while in Boston. Possibly would have helped with authenticity checks. Now my mild paranoia is setting in and I am questioning the authenticity of my own ties. My Hermes collection came from one wealthy individual. He's the type that would have bought them directly from Hermes rather than looking for a deal - but some of them have the hallmarks of "fake". I spoilered the pics as I used the large upload setting. The four on the right don't have me worried, but the four on the left...

No expert but I think the ones on the left are real but less desirable? It has something to do with the keeper label actually saying Hermes Paris vs just having the horse and carriage

While at my local Savers yesterday, I noticed a Burberry London tag and started to inspect. It had a made in the USA tag on it which I found odd, I thought their clothing were made in England. Would this be a real shirt?

Alas the store has found Burberry to be a good brand and had this used shirt marked 19.99. They had a new with tags Perry Ellis shirt marked $24.99 and a Ralph Lauren Purple Label marked $7.99...

Gitman had the license on Burberry for a long time. I guess they still might, but that is probably who made it.

This reminds me...I was in Vienna last week and standing in line to buy a ticket for the underground. A group of men in front of me had purchased single tickets instead of the 24 hour tickets that they wanted and offered to sell me theirs. I also needed a 24 hour ticket, so I declined. A young guy with a rucksack got in line behind me and I asked him if he needed a single ticket or a 24 hour ticket. He looked at me terrified and just said "Uh, no...German, no German. English?" I asked him the question and he didn't need the ticket either. I asked him where he was from and he said Canada. I said "Oh, well Happy Canada Day. Is that what you say, happy Canada Day?" He said "Yes, exactly! How'd you know?!" I had heard it on the radio, but he seemed to enjoy that and explained that it's primarily celebrated with BBQ and alcohol

Most everything in Canada is celebrated with BBQ and alcohol. Great country.
