Been thrifting in the Bluff? Is "flushed down the loo" new slang for insufflation?

lol8[1].gif

Chocolate suede John Lobb Chesters!!!!!

Looks like they've been worn a handful of times at most.

And the best part - they fit! They're a tad big but I can always wear thick socks.

Maybe not up to DM7 levels, but probably the best I'll ever do! No idea how I'll wear these, but I'll be sure to throw up a thrift fit pic when I do. Let me know if anybody can hook a brother up with some nice shoe trees on the cheap.

Such a kick ass grail find! If you ever get sick of them or you need some monies, please PM me. I'll be glad to take those off of your hands!

If you paid "big money" for Gap jeans, you're doing something wrong.

Bro...Those are selvedge jeans...SELVEDGE!!! I wish I've thrifted a pair...Gap and all...

I popped into a couple of Gaps to check out their selvage (I thought it was spelled "selvedge" until I just looked at their site) and didn't see any in the stores. The closest I came was to their "premium" denim and it wasn't anything special. I had really set aside money to piss away on nice denim and walked away without having seen anything that I had to have.

I did find two pairs of Levi 514s Slim Straight leg jeans that I love. They're nothing special I suppose, but some of the first that fit me length-wise. No word on how well they wash, hopefully they don't bleed too much. I grabbed them for around $25/pair and I wish I would have gotten 2-3 more in my size as they're like €75-100 a pair here. Anyone looking for simple, dark, straight jeans that fit well, check those out!

That is damn fine. Love that lining!

Yesterday and today...

This thing is straight up BALLER. From the labels, it definitely looks like it's Tom James (very recent, 2007 tag)...but it's, by far, the nicest Tom James I've ever seen: Holland & Sherry fabric, side vented, ticket pocket, functional cuffs, soft shoulder, flat front pants, pick stitching up and down the entire jacket length...not to mention the SICK lining! It's amazing...definitely fully bespoke/MTM. Haven't taken measurements yet, but if it fits me, it's probably mine, and alternatively, it might be going to a friend who desperately needs some staple suits. Unavailable for now, until I take measurements/get details.

They may be selvege but Gap jeans are low-tier denim. I should know; I have a pair (paid $12 new, in a Gap store).

:teach:
I see it both ways all the time.

Ahh, so I won't feel like such a fool for spelling something incorrectly.

I know nothing of denim and it seems like quite the undertaking to get in-depth knowledge about it. I simply know that I want jeans that fit well and look decent. I thought selvedge might be the answer as that seems to be what is worn in the pictures I've admired. Anyway, the 514s fit the bill and at $25 I'm happy. I suppose we'll see if they last the winter.

In terms of styling, selvedge does nothing for you, other than a marginally cleaner look when cuffed but that's seriously trivial. Selvedge jeans typically indicated a higher quality denim, but it's become such a buzz word that you can now buy $50 lands end selvedge jeans. My favorite jeans cut right now is from wings + horns (talked about a lot on the SW&D side of the forum) which uses cone mills denim I believe from NC. Not $25 though :embar:

Been a little while since finding anything interesting in a thrifted item pocket...found these today inside a sport coat I picked up last weekend.

A baggie containing a brownish-white coarse powder, and a small clear plastic straw (I added the quarter to show scale).

Already flushed down the loo, so please: no PM's asking if it's "available".

I'm waiting for that to happen... Most recent jacket pocket search while in store netted me a little piece of paper with a phone number and a pin code. I was intrigued. Could this be some sort of awesome viral marketing? Maybe bank related? I was intrigued...

I dialed. I listened to about 5 seconds of the recording and... Phone sex line. I may have to plant it in another jacket the next time I make it out to the thrifts.

Been traveling for the past two weeks, but on my travels picked up an Oxxford for NM silk tuxedo jacket - labeled a 44L but almost fits me as a 41R
