That was a crazy fight, I was so psyched when Carlos got the stoppage.
(I always root for the more handsome fighter when I don't know who they are)

Is Chuck Liddell an all-time MMA (not just UFC) great?

Pros: He was UFC LHW champion and defended the belt four times, he never ducked anyone, he was one of the most popular fighters ever and built the UFC into what it is today.

Cons: He was champion at a time when most of the best fighters in his weight class were in PRIDE, he lost by first-round KO to the two best PRIDE fighters (Rampage and Shogun) when they came to the UFC, he was a limited brawler who didn't evolve with the MMA game when his opponents figured out how to fight him.

If we're talking "great" in terms of importance and effect on the sport - absolutely. If we're talking about skill, I would say he was never in the same tier as the guys from Pride in their peak (Wandy, Rampage, Shogun, etc.). I've always thought he was a sloppy and overrated fighter, but you can't take away the amount of impressive KOs he's had, and his fights definitely have their moments.

MMA is changing to fast for the "legends" of MMA to grow with the sport. IN the beginning Chuck was great. Now he is just a brawler with power. He is over.

Back when Liddell was the UFC, I really didn't like watching it. Compared to the guys in Pride at the time, he had nothing on them and I didn't see why people liked him.

I think all of us that favored Pride over the UFC probably feel this way. I think what you have to look at in ranking these guys by weight class is how many guys they beat were considered Top 10 at the time. I think that is the logic behind ranking Chuck as one of the best LHW's of all time. That kind of ranking is almost entirely subjective because Chuck never fought Wanderlei or Shogun in their prime. All though the argument could easily be made that Shogun was on his way back up during their fight, and is, again, the fighter he was then.

Liddell was popular because he was in the best-advertised (at least in North America) league and because he was able to knock people silly. That being said, it's absolutely true that he never evolved (at least not that I'm aware of), and he's a pretty limited fighter. And those big, sloppy punches...I think he was just quick enough to surprise some people, thus getting the knockout/knockdown.

LOL nobody even bothered to make picks for last nights Strikeforce card. Not bad fights, but I'll wait for next weekend's Fedor fight.

I'm too ashamed of seeing Zaromskis, a guy I thought would dominate SF, get completely walked over. I have nothing to say about it

What's up with Robbie Lawler, his last two fights he's been doing this thing where he pretends to be dazzed. Like the "Finish Him" wobble in Mortal Kombat.

Has anyone from Dream ever won in SF? By my count they're 0-3. How long before they stop sending their champs to get killed?
