Did a little shinin' on the 4060's tonight. Brush, deer bone (for the first time), brush, buff with stocking. I like it.

I take a half size up (TTS) in the Leeds. It is definitely narrower in than the Barrie for me
Thank you.. Is it odd then that the Leeds fit me best half a size(9.5D) less than my size on the Brannock device (10D). I tried the leeds TTS and the gap between the lacing was completely non existent and felt very roomy.

It feels the same way with the Barrie last too. The 9.5D feels a little too roomy but the 9D is snug.

Not weird at all. Everyone's feet are different. Like I said I take the same size in both. Ryden and I seem to take the same size in most shoes, but we differ on the Leeds' last.

They look great, so not much to add, other than my own experience that microfiber buffing cloths - the tightly woven ones for the final shine - bring out the glow faster and with a lot less effort than cotton...

Cheers,

I agree. I normally use microfiber. This time I tried my wife's nylon stocking like I normally use to polish up wax on my calf shoes. The shine looks a bit different than my normal microfiber shine.

Can anybody here who own a pair of Alden Barrie lasted shoe and also the AE Leeds in Shell Cordovan comment on how the sizing is between these two lasts? I know this is not how I should size, however it will put me in the ballpark.

I take the same size in both lasts, but the Barrie is much roomier in the width for me. Length fits the same for me.

I have a pair of 7.5D in the Barrie last CXL blucher, and I own an 8.5D cordovan Leeds. The Barrie is still a bit roomier overall, esp in the vamp and has a slight bit of heel wiggle on my right foot.

My Brannock size would be about 8.25 roughly. My foot is odd I am learning and tricky to size. Narrow heel, low vamp, wide across the toes.

Some suede spray with help prevent denim transfer and water spotting

i sprayed with suede protector when first purchased in the fall. the jeans are 3-sixteen shadow denim that haven't been washed, so they bleed pretty easily.

Is the transfer limited to suade? Curious to hear/see if cordovan or calf have an inherent properties that could combat this?

I have not tried those. Although I like the idea and they seem like they'd work great.

They do -- there are larger ones on that site as well, a few sites carry the - but I find Autopia always has a good selection of the good stuff.

Basically you want to look for the cloths that are for "final buffing / polishing"

They also happen to kick arse on shoes...

Most leathers experience indigo transfer. Shell seems more resistant, but I've had indigo transfer to shell before.

Its a suede thing - I wear raw denim (Moromoto and Iron Heart) with CLX and Cordovan - no transfer to them
