I have snuff in the chukka and I am considering tan sued in the ptb's. can't go wrong with either really.

Good read, thanks for posting. Green suede? Sounds intriguing. I also like the sound of more unlined CXL models being released. Notice, however, that he didn't mention any new cordovan models in the pipeline.

You can still wear your boots, even in the desert. Personal choice. I favor my unlined makeups but work in a boot at least once a week.

Packed up the various boots today as summertime approaches. Had a nice final mac-session before bagging and boxing them up for the heat.

Closet now appears to need more shoes...

Spot on. I have two pairs of natty cxl (as described in my sig). One pair I've been wearing. One has been in the box since purchase. I was startled by the change in color but not displeased at all. I've used Venetian shoe cream maybe a handful of times.

If you don't want to darken it than positively don't use Meltonian cream, even if "neutral."

Get yourself some Saphir Renovateur, and use it sparingly.

Also of note: Natural CXL will always darken over time with wear and subsequent care. Expect this. Embrace it. Meltonian will speed up this process significantly and turn the boots quickly to a more golden tone, away from the grey/beige they start out. A good, clean, stiff brush is your best friend.

This is an evolution of my NatCXL Indys using only Meltonian, before springing for Saphir at the advice of board-knowledge.

I agree, not just anyone can pull off the tassel look... ...but when done correctly, they are tough to compete with.

Tassels are classy. My personal favorite is probably my black shell alden for bb tassels.
