CTYGGG, gorgeous color on those Indys.  Can I ask about how many wears on those (or how long you've had them)?  Have they lightened up since you got them?

I am always learning more about my tastes and preferences.  I thought that I'd always prefer a 360-welt and always a storm-welt/split-reverse welting, since I lean towards a more casual/work boot look.  But especially with the Barrie (and probably Trubalance, too), I'm finding what you said so very true.  The Barrie's heel tends to be huge when it's a 360-welt AND split-reverse, too.  When I got my #8 PCT boot from J.Crew, I found the natural welt and a closed heel really added a nice balance to the look and the heel wasn't so ginormous.

Purchased the #8 Indy earlier this year & they have started to lighten up a bit. You'll find that the type of welt makes a difference & on the Indy the close heel balances it out better.

Nice looking boot.

Thank you.

Renews my hope that Alden agrees to make the Thor boot MTO.

Really wish that we would have done the Thor boot with a flat welt & close heel as I wanted. Tom really nailed it with those cigar jumpers, great looking boot.

And the Thor isn't supposed to have that stitching on the side of the upper. To be honest, It kind of pisses me off seeing that boot, because it makes the Thor less rare if it gets produced.

The only way it could piss me off more is if it were Jcrew and not LS.

yes, but j.crew marks all the 3rd party stuff up so I imagine 30% is probably around their cost certainly not at a loss. I've ordered many belstaff jackets from europe the past 2 or 3 years. Even with the sucky exchange it's still cheaper than the j.crew retail price on the same jacket.

This is a terrible comparison in my opinion. Someone else has stated that the J. Crew prices are on par with Alden pricing and I find that to be true too with the G9 Barracudas and Barbour jackets too. Just because you can get something from Europe for a cheaper price than J. Crew doesn't mean they are marking up their prices. You can say the same thing about Barbour jackets from the Barbour store and Crockett and Jones shoes from the C&J store. The prices are not being marked up, that is just what the retail price is for imported goods from another country. Part of the savings you are getting is due to duties which you should be paying on your purchase.

I am now in total agreement. Was the group adamant on these features? I guess it would be too late to change it now? I'm in regardless but...

I'd say its too late to change. It was hard enough getting everyone to agree on 1 design and the order has been submitted. If you start making changes, people might start dropping out. It was a done deal once the votes were tallied and the final design was established. You can't go back and change it now, (even if it were possible) it would be undemocratic.

But to answer your question, it was just a simple majority who wanted the 360. There was plenty of support for the closed heel.

I am coming around on the closed heel as well.

You're absolutely right. I just needed someone to tell me that. But if that Thor boot does come through, I am sure I will be happy with it.

Thor boot design wasn't all that special in the first place, you just were going for a standard design in a rarer shell color. Wouldn't be surprised if a few other retailers like Unionmade had something similar arrive as well before the Thor boot

also, the LS version is only available in one store in HI. so who cares? maybe 60 dudes on an island will have something similar.

Leather Soul has sold those cigar jumper boots in the past as well

Edit - Actually I don't think they have, they have sold them in color 8
