Frans Boone??

Anybody ever buy online from this store? Some of their Alden makeups are pretty cool, too bad the exchange rate works against us in the US. I'm especially digging the cigar ptb with brass eyelets.......

I just ordered from them and had the shoes in my hands in less than a week. Very speedy shipping - and that was their free shipping option. And like CTYGGG said, the prices are actually a bit better than what they initially appear after subtracting the VAT.

Fran's Boone cigar ptb…$705 vs. TSM cigar ptb…$660. Not a huge price difference if it's an Alden make-up that you really want.

All above is true... however keep in mind that you may get hit with a hefty customs fee if customs snags your package.
I bought a pair of Tricker's Shell longwing's from Frans Boone (store customer service was awesome) but got hit with an $85.00 customs charge.... so you have to add that possiblity into the equation.

Shouldn't get hit with customs on USA made goods. You still might get hit with brokerage fees though.

Not an irregular. Bought from Alden DC, I would honestly keep the boot if they gave me a discount. Not sure if they would work that out with me.

Shipping is Eur 50 to US. Terrible. Despite the fact that TSM is sold out of what I want for 5 months, I don't think I can justify paying a $170 premium to buy from Frans now.

They are both great, the unlined being lighter and more comfortable sockless and in warmer climes. I wear the lined in cooler months...

Thanks for the feedback.

Both look great and, as of right now, I'm leaning toward the Brooks Brothers unlined penny loafer due to the immediate availability of C widths.

Any differences in sizing between the LHS and the BB unlined version? I read on SF that the BB unlined cordovan penny loafer is supposedly a bit more roomy. Would you say it's actually a bit larger or is it simply more relaxed because it's not lined?

That's a bad dye job by Alden basically.

This post is 100% correct. That spot got a double/triple shot of purple paint at the Alden factory.

They will probably only get better looking as the dye mellows with sunlight.

It's not wider. It is however easier on the top of your foot.
