Spring outerwear for classic style?

When it comes to what to wear over a suit or a sport coat in spring I don't see many options besides a Trench or a Mac coat over the suit or a field/safari jacket over a sport coat for a more casual look.
This is a quite limited selection. Am I missing something here?

And I would not.

You could also wear a Barbour jacket over a suit.

The real question here is, how many options do you need?
