With all the recent talk about the unlined Van loafers, I wanted to share this pair that I have worn sock-less regularly along with my other pair of house slippers for the past 8 months. This isn’t shell but I did size down to a D width from a Barrie E. They show a lot of patina and have become really comfortable.

So I’ve searched all the forums, all the old stuff on Ask Andy, etc., but information seems contradictory and/or quite old. So I’m coming to you wise sages.

I’ve picked up a pair of PTB for Brooks Brothers from eBay. 10.5D. I’ve got a pair of TruBalance boots and a pair of CXL PTBs on Barrie, 10.5D, both fit fine. 11D on the Plaza last, nice fit.

It *seems* like this shoe was made on the M58 last? If so, how many of you go same size Barrie as M58 or have I bought a pair of shoes I’ll need to resell? (For what it’s worth, I could almost wear a 10E on Barrie; I’ve got *decent* room in a 10.5D.)

Interestingly I also just bought such a pair of BB PTBs on eBay.
They are indeed on the M58 last, which I think was only used for the BB PTBs and according to many posts I've read, fits more true to size, i.e. you don't need to size down 0.5 as with the Barrie for instance.
I normally wear 10.5 in Barrie and Trubalance and got these in 11. But they haven't arrived yet, so I'll see.
While the majority had said, that they fit true to size, there were also some who got them in the same size as their Barrie and didn't have any problem. So it might work out for you.
