@jischwar Thank you, and congrats on the addition to your collection. This No. 4 make-up by Alden DC is great!

March 2021: The One That Got Away

Gentlemen, I wanted to kick off March 2021’s monthly topic. This is now our third monthly topic, and I expect that this one will bring out some fairly interesting stories. Take all the time that you need to think of your personal response, as you got all month to work on a post that suits you and captures your thoughts, so no need to rush to post a response today!

The theme is "The One That Got Away", what I mean by that phrase is which Alden did you either not pick up when you had the opportunity to (had to pass on), sold and now regret it, or something disastrous happened to them? I imagine most will be in the first of these categories, but tossed the third one in there in case someone's puppy chewed up their Color #4 Boot or UPS/FedEx lost their Brassvello LWB. They don't have to be a super exotic, it could be a good old classic as well.

Please reply to this post to make your responses easier to see. Thank you so much and I very much look forward to seeing everyone’s thoughts (and I am sure discussions) this month!

-Mike
So I'm late to this topic but....

The one that got away for me was the Hunting Green Reverse Chamois Wingtip and PCT Boots that Yenni ran a few years back. I did not own any Aldens at the time but found myself going back almost daily looking at the those boots. When I finally jumped into the Alden rabbit hole last year I realized I missed out as they were both sold out. Additionally I then found out that at Alden has discontinued this specific color of reverse chamois. As I got more into Alden over this past year and picked up a few pairs of reverse chamois boots, it made my desire for the green reverse chamois pairs even stronger. Given my 12.5/13 size I figured I'd never get a chance to own one as they were most likely not even made in my size.

Then a couple months back I tracked down (not in a creepy way 😆) someone that had a pair of Hunting Green Reverse Chamois Wingtip boots in 13D which is 1/2 size larger than my typical Barrie size but I can make it work pretty well. But they were not in the market of selling them.

Well all that changed this week, when that person reached out to me saying they were thinning the heard and were about to list them on eBay. And the rest is history.

Here is my grail "the one that got away" pair....
