The folks you see in street photography never smoke themselves. The photographer usually hands them a cig and lights it for them or, if they refuse to smoke, ends up paying them extravagant sums to pretend. In rare cases, the photographer may even stuff the cig in their mouth at knifepoint.

Then, after the pic is taken, the photographer snatches the partially burned cig out of the subject's mouth (cigs are expensive you know!) and reuses it on the next stylish person they see. Nick Wooster always gets a fresh cig, though.
