Hello all,

One morning at work I make a quick trip to the bathroom and it hits me, I've been wearing jeans, trainers and a old t-shirt everyday for 3 years since graduating. So, I decide to change my style and become a well dressed alpha male!.

I have now spent 1 whole week reading the forums, in the morning, during my lunch breaks and before I go to bed. Then it happens, I bought my very first pair of quality shoes.

Now I have nothing to wear with my shoes so I have decided to get a tailored suit made.
All I know is I want it to be "Light Grey" and well fitted.

Searching the forums everyone seems to be recommending "George in Harringay" is this the one? http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1197/94778.php

Nice shoes. For a first suit I would go with navy, mid-grey or charcoal. Lght grey isn't really a staple and you should cover the basics first. Only mid-grey would work with those shoes IMO (a darker brown would have been more versatile... something to consider on your next purchase).

Also, unless you have an unusual body shape, I would go for OTR with alterations. Once you get more comfortable with what you like, you can then graduate to MTM / bespoke.

Your first suit really depends on what you do and where you live.

My first suit was Wheat - which is highly unusual. Most people would suggest Navy or Charcoal. Mainly because it can get more use - both formal and informal.

Thanks for the replies. I live in London and I work as a Web Designer. OTR is a no go for me. 46" Chest, 34" waist, 19" Biceps and shoulders too wide to mention

- so it's tailored all the way.

Go slowly with your purchases.

Work on staples. Build from there. Fit is everything.

This. I find that the lighter a grey suit is, the less formal it is (of course, this is only a general guideline and also depends on the type of fabric, pattern, etc.)
Chocolate brown shoes go very well with both navy and charcoal suits.

Thanks guys. Appreciate the help. I'll be visiting a tailor next week, so I"ll check out the fabrics then.
