This is the first time I've ever worn shell and the only SMU shoe that I own. I'm surprised how much these have creased, but I can tell you for sure that they fit really well. Is this creasing normal? I don't know a lot about shell, yet. The shoes have a nice, sturdy feel to them and the sole feels good on my feet.

Glad to see you kept those. I’m also a shell newbie but it does seem like brushing them a lot will keep them looking pretty. My Strands already don’t bloom so much in the rolls and look more like I’d expect them to look where the shoe flexes in spite of the worries I had.

I love the feel of the soles on these, and I wish all my AE's had this type of JR sole.
I’m with you there for sure. They seem like they’ll be durable yet they are also relatively pliable when new. Big fan at least initially of the JR soles myself.

Cheaper alternative is just to use the back of a spoon with some bick 4 for deer boning. Do know that you can bone out the creasing somewhat, but they will return next wear. I only use it to help smooth out gouges/pitting and dryness.
Works well...

It definitely takes some getting used to. Shell has a different feel than calf when flexing. It kind of reminds me of my C&J shoes, and how those feel thicker / more substantial than my AE calf shoes. I also noticed that my shell Parks seem to be a dust magnet. I brushed them both for about 5 minutes each and I'm amazed how much they can recover without any conditioner.

You have no idea. I got a gouge in my strands. Brushing completely evened out the color. Bick 4 and lots of massaging with a spoon and the gouge is basically unnoticeable. I used no colored products at all.

I did a smu with bitter chocolate suede

*#1554 Chocolate suede
*8-8495 15 D
*Independence lining
*tone on tone stitching
*Chili reg welt
*brown leather insole
*Oxford rubber gumlite sole inked sole edge brown

@BagleyBrown Sorry to dredge up such an old post but do you mind if I ask if by 'inked sole edge' you mean that brown edge dressing was applied to the gumlite soles? These are a lot thinner and dressier looking than most other Gumlites soles I've seen.

Yes, that is what they said/did - I would take some photos but the 65 last was a fail for me in my regular 15d; so I did not keep them after a few wears. Gifted them to a fellow SFer with similar size feet: @BespokeBrooklyn might have more recent shots if they worked for him.

Two weeks???

I have to wait for the sale to start at the end of this week, and I also have to wait for another shoe to arrive in Charleston so that Ashley can ship both. So I'll maybe receive them by the 26th. One of them is pretty rare, although not impossible to find. I totally got excited when she told me what she found. The big asterisk I must add is that there's a decent chance that one or both of these shoes might be too tight at the instep. These could be my last AE's for the year, assuming Ashley doesn't find another rare SMU in my size.

But why do you have to tease us?
Why???
If I was in the exact same boat, I think I’d wait ‘til I had pictures. There’s a rule about pictures, you know.

This is far too much suspense for me.
