Shame what they did to these. I love the style, but the built quality is not there. I'm sure I've said before that I gutted the insole and added my own leather/cork one.
Funny thing is that you can buy $900 Ferragamo shoes with essentially the same build.

Hi Friends,

I have something unique today. You buy enough Trunk Show shoes and boots and every once in a while you can ask for a favor. This year for some reason I was told yes and got something special, at least to me. The Dalton has long been my favorite AE boot. These say "Dalton" on the inside but whenever I read it I only see "Rock Star".

Not sure how I can follow that kind of trunk show mic drop, especially with these standard makeup chili Higgins Mill. This might end up being my most-worn pair in 2023.

Congrats! There is something about a Dalton with reverse welt. Even cooler to have something one of a kind. Here's to hoping that AE comes strong in the next TS and offers welt swap options.

You seem to really like that sole, huh? Do they feel the same across all the colors? (There was a time when I swore the newer colored dainites were softer than the older brick red soles. Might have all been in my head.)

I can tell a difference between the "Freeport" and the "XLite", but I cannot tell any difference between colors. I know these soles are not super popular, especially the XLite. This time of year I spend a fair number of evenings and weekends at the local ski resorts. Good food and fun nightlife. On ice I like these softer lug soles better than Commando, I think they grip better. Dainite and leather are non starters on real ice. I'd be curious what others in snowy/cold locations think on this (does it get cold in Chicago?).
