I would say get something out f the ordinary you would not buy for yourself. Also something that will last longer than a suit in a certain style for clothing. Maybe now is a time to get a good watch to have and pass on to future generations. My lovely wife has already said that for our 10th I can get my white faced Daytona, since I sold my black face one to pay for the wedding she wanted and some things for the new house.

A Fabbri is a piece of art, its something I was too scared to buy when I did look into that gun. The Perazzi SCO is a very beautiful shotgun and if you are willing to wait they can engrave a picture you prefer onto the optional sideplates.
H&H and Purdey are very nice too, but I have 2 Perazzis and love them both. Beretta is nice but more utilitarian, although the dozen or so that I do have are used extensively.
Krieghoff K-80 is also very nice, and can do most any engraving you want. Hal Dupont owns Dupont/Kreighoff and is a gentleman. He was kind enough to donate a Krieghoff to me when I did a charity auction for the Tsunami.
PM me if you wish any more info.

Regards.

If I were you, I think I'd stay away from suits or shoes for this sort of thing. You already have so many, so these would just fall into the fold. I'd pick something you've always wanted but would never reasonably buy for yourself because of expense or utility concerns. In my case, that would be something like a Leica MP, a fancy humidor, or a nice shotgun (plus lessons). For you, I'm sure it would be something else--but that's the general concept I'd follow.

Now that is what I call a good idea!

Why ... why ... you little whippersnapper.

Will give thought and get back to you. I'll take a look at my "Acqusitions Agenda" ... with you in mind.

Congratulations, Matt. I like the idea of a piece of art or some personal item--a set of dress links, a watch, etc. I also like the idea of some special wine.
