I just lost 20 lbs....went from 215 to 195...went from a 38 to a 35 waist and am scared to spend a lot of moola on a "good" suit...fearing that i will gain it back.

Im looking for a skinny suit, flat front pants with a narrow fit jacket. i have looked at banana republic suits, but they just feel China made to me.

at my larger size 46 i would go to Syms and buy a couple fo Boss suits.

can anyone help?

Take a suit you already have and have it taken in. I had a pair of pants taken from a 33 to a 30 and it cost me $15.

You can also get the waist of the jacket taken in just a little bit, it runs me $20-30 depending on the vent style of the jacket.

Add to that the tailor I use never removes any material when he takes something in for a customer so if it needs to be let back out it can be.

He went from a US46 to a approx US40/42 (looking at the 35'waist). Taking in a jacket that much would look odd (off balance).

Since fat is mostly stored in the gut, losing weight will shrink the waistline more than anywhere else right? So losing 20lb and dropping as much in the chest as the waist sounds doubtful. I don't know. I've never lost weight.

chest sizes don't change much with weight loss. It will with weight training, but with "only" a 20 lb change i doubt much of anything came off the chest.

If the jacket still fits you across the chest and shoulders have it taken in. If it's too loose for you, then start looking for a repalcement suit.

And the amount to take a suit in can be ALOT and still have it looked balanced. I have a 40" chest and a 30" waist and like a little more waist suppression than is currently cut into RTW suits. Last jacket I had taken in the tailor took 8-10" out of the waist.

^ second TaT. I bought a JaB suit because i needed one rather quickly and got it at a discount (~180 i think down from 550 - they're always on sale). I am a bit underwhelmed at the quality even at the reduced price point.

about JaB--they are always on sale and they are definitely not at the high-end of things...acceptable quality and price for me on a strict budget.
