So very true! I think my Harlech cordovans are due next… I feel very prepared for winter when I've rubbed in the thick Saphir cordovan cream, applied sole oil and edge dressing - and they look ten times better than when I bought them

You have an enviable collection of suedes there Cleav, how do you get on with the crappy English weather? Do you douse them in CREP or do you drive right into your work building and never have to deal with puddles?

I swore off suede for years after being caught in the rain too many times, now I'm edging my way cautiously back in.

Thanks man, I just go heavy on the spray!

I have one pair on dainite, I've always resisted them. Don't ask why, as I couldn't really explain but they are the mutts nuts.

That said whatever sole, suede is good honest to goodness low maintenance gold. Quick brush up, bit of edging applied if required and a spray of whatever is your poison and away we are!

Maybe the protector around now is better? Glad you're back in suede though!

I for one consider suede a stable for rainy days and my chukkas with Dainite are my favorites on pouring autumn days. To be fair I find suede far more suitable for rain than plain calf, but country calf is obviously another matter...

Interesting, cheers fellas. I've seen those Loake Kemptons I think,suede chukkas with a dainite sole that look like a nice crap weather boot. I also do a pair of burgundy scotch grain chukkas in BB that would do nicely too. Clark's dessies are awful as the sole gives you zero traction.

I need to thank my American friends for spreading the concept of "Black Friday" sales north across the border and globally.

I picked up this pair of suede Ghillies from LeatherFoot at their Black Friday sale. Very tickled. And glad to finally add another suede pair to the rotation. Hopefully they meet the approval of the Suede King (yes, that's you @Cleav )
