My Wool *Grey* suit has a small dark spot near the collar. I'm not sure what kind of stain it is. I tried just dapping some water but that did not work. Any ideas on what I should do before taking it to the cleaners?

Try soaking in woolite. It worked getting a soy sauce stain out of one of my suits.

You can also try a drop of toilet bowl cleaning liquid, and work it with a toothbrush. Have a damp rag handy after wards, to gently rub out the cleaning liquid. WARNING: Try a test first on a part of the jacket that won't be seen first. I am not responsible for above info, however, I have found that this cleaning liquid will get even the toughest ink stains out of a dress shirt. I use this method as a last resort, when I no longer care. Maybe wait for some other responses before you try. Good luck

Try dabbing with a Woolite-water solution, then dab with water only to get the solution out.

Just earlier today I used a little seltzer and a tiny dab of soap to get some General Tso's chicken sauce off a pair of Zegna wool trousers - worked like a charm. The toilet bowl cleaner sounds interesting - and scary but I'll have to check that one out if all else fails!

Perhaps baby shampoo is a less-exotic option. I'd do the Woolite if it were handy, however.
