Spherical shirt studs- thoughts?

When you buy very high-end bib tuxedo shirts, they tend to come with these neat tiny plastic spherical studs that are meant as placeholders until you insert the real thing.

Well, these got me thinking about looking for and buying actual spherical ones made of metal/onyx/whatnot. They might look very sharp, I thought, and since I've found a few reference pictures showing these. For example:

https://www.gentlemansgazette.com/w...the-periods-novel-black-waistcoat-studs.-.jpg

So my questions are:

1. Any experience with these? Do they tend to slip out more easily than their cylindrical counterparts? Are they useful? Do you like them? Etc.
2. Any leads on some relatively affordable ones? The only ones I could find on Amazon (Cuff Daddy) have terrible ratings owing to shoddy quality.

Thanks all!

A quick Google search for gold knot studs found them at Macy's, Saks 5th Ave, and elsewhere. If you want smooth spheres, another Google search finds a few examples.

Be aware that it's quite likely that the shirt Astaire is wearing in the picture you linked to quite likely fastens in the back, not the front. Inserting studs into a very stiff fronted shirt can be a frustrating exercise. I don't know what you mean by "very high end", but if you get a dress shirt made, have the maker add a **** on one side of the bib so you can get a hand inside the shirt, behind the bib, which will help immensely to fasten the studs.
