I have two of those ties (H&B for Hardy Amies or some other British retailer IIRC) and while the wool is very fine, I wouldn't wear them after fall/winter. Not quite insane but a woolen tie, no matter how fine, shouldn't be worn in spring/summer.

i disagree, as there are some woolen patterns and weights woven specifically for that purpose.

they're actually a cashmere/wool blend



btw, the glenplaid LB tie is the one worn by Matteo Marzotto in this picture (and one I have been searching for since first seeing it)

NorCal, I love your wool and cashmere ties - all of them. They have given me inspiration for the line of cashmere/silk ties that I am working on. Mildly Consumptive, Your striped ties are very nice but except for the middle one they look quite cheerful. I would wear the first and third on a beautiful late spring or early summer day. You know the type without a cloud in the sky - and no serious business meetings on the horizon.

You must be thinking of Norcal's wool and cashmere grenadines posted further up the thread.

I'll be wearing the BB stripes with everything from fall through spring, and probably summer, including tweed jackets and suits, same as my recent Hober stripe:
