After getting the runaround yesterday and over the phone today, I decide to try my local postoffice again after work. Success:

Some EG goodness, finally:

They look great, even if the Doak is the new darker variation (a bit darker than my Hoves really).

Thanks to Skoak for the great service, I'll be placing my next EG order soon...

It's all good, so long as the leather quality is high. You can manipulate it however you wish, once received and worn.

Nice monks thanks for posting. Good to know any shoe ordered now will indeed be very dark. Makes it easier on those of us who were thinking of taking a chance on future doak orders.

I don't know if that's true. Maybe a little bit but unless you do something drastic. Dark shoes will stay dark while light can easily be made darker.

I'd also like to know what now most closely approximates the old Doak.

Galways are in dark oak and chukka is also in a dark oak. Both of these were obtained at the same time. In my opinion DOAK always varied in color.

I've been emailing back & forth with Gabriel & thought I'd check here as well. I'm looking for some sizing advice. I'm going to order a blucher & a balmoral, both on the EB 946 last.

My feet are slightly wide in the forefeet & my arch is a bit lower then normal.

In Alden I wear a 9.5D Barrie and a 9.5E Aberdeen in shoes (although for some reason my 9.5D Alden shells fit a bit tighter than my 9.5D CXLs), I wear a 10D in a suede Barrie Boot which fits a bit "comfortably loose". My RL Marlow is 10D (a bit snug in the forefoot). My CJ Islays are 9E (for some reason snug in the vamp area when worn with thick socks). I have a pair of MTO AE Eagle Countys which are 10E/10.5E (AE's 222 last), my left foot is slightly longer than my right.

Sorry for the lengthy post, I want to make sure I get the fit right!

im in but what kind of contrast stitching? if its "slight" why even bother with that detail? will it be lighter or darker?

We're looking at a lighter contrast. It will be a contrast, but there are 4-5 different colors, I'm opting for one were a contrast will be evident but not dominant.

888 if I recall correctly. We just said in the store that JS is gonna say these are dark when he gets them. :) They look marvellous though. The balance is awesome, hard to believe it's a G width.
