Shoulder divots on custom suit?

I had a custom suit made several weeks ago and finally wearing it for the first time. While it seemed to be a perfect fit when I originally tried it on, there are noticeable divots in the shoulders (see attached pics) even when my arms are down and I stand straight. Do you think the divots are acceptable or should I contact my clothier for alterations?

Didn’t notice the divots when I had my fitting, and the fitter didn’t either. Got the suit nearly a month ago and this is the first time I’m wearing it.

It's unclear if this is bespoke or MTM (made-to-measure). Either way, you should go back and ask them for alterations. In bespoke they should definitely be able to do something. In MTM it depends on a few factors; cause of the divots, the skill of the person measuring you, and the skill of their alterations tailor.

In any case, the divots aren't that bad, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

It’s a MTM. Fortunately they’re well regarded for their custom service, so I imagine they’d be willing to make the needed alterations.

Coming from poorly fitted OTR suits, I may have been so taken away by the feel of the suits, I missed it during the fitting. And the divots/shoulders in the MTMs are still light years better than my OTRs.

It sounds promising, so definitely go back and ask for alterations. However, you should be realistic about what can be achieved. If the divots are caused by some complicated issue that would require extensive alterations, they may not be able to do much. But the only way to find out is by trying.

Here's a tip for your next suit fitting appointment. Move around as maniacally as is socially acceptable. Most tailors can make a suit that looks good with you standing straight, arms down. But only the best suits follow your body around as it contorts in a million ways over the course of a day.

Would request a fix if it were bespoke, but honestly it looks fine for what I gather is a first MTM order. The alteration required to fix that is pretty intensive, and if not done by someone who's especially skilled, it has the potential to lead to bigger issues. If you really trust the people you ordered from to do the alteration, then it wouldn't hurt to ask. At the least, you should bring the issue to your tailor's attention and expect it to be avoided on any future orders.

This post might help. In many cases, it's a case of the upper back and shoulders being too narrow.

AFAIK, you may be able to solve this by letting the jacket out along the center back seam. But prob best to talk to a tailor.
