I think if anything it's the other way around. It's the shape and patinas of the shoes that are outstanding, but the quality of the shoes is questionable. It's not even good year welted.

Corthays are goodyear welted.... There were talks of introducing a lower priced blake welted line but I'm not sure if they ever did so, I know I didn't see any in the store last time I was there.

When I had a pair of Corthays in my hands, they felt so lightweight that they felt cheap. I know weight is not necessarily an indicator of quality, but they just felt insubstantial.

But there is no denying that the shape of the last is beautiful and the colors they apply are very unique.

So you've held the shoes but can't tell if it's goodyear?

People say that scotch grain shell is too shiny and looks like plastic. In the pictures they look great. Do they look plastic in real life?

I'm not sure if it's your size or photographic execution but this is the nicest longwing I've ever seen and I don't even like longwings!
