Yes, pure & simple. Less is more. Let the true form of 8000 & U shine thru.

This is the first time I see the 2 rows of nails around the edges of sole and heel. Can someone enlighten me welther they're decorative, structural or preventive from wear?

From what Manton has said, the double rows of nails are not efficacious in preventing wear, although my understanding was that that is their intent.

I have seen many cases of full leather heel with 2 rows of nails but not nails around the whole perimeter of the sole. The shoe in question has a rubber insert in the heel. My guess is they're purely decorative.

It's hard to tell from the picture, but it's not clear that the sole is stitched to the upper or welt; the stitching on the sort-of reverse-welt that you can see appears to go into the upper from the welt, but the second row of stitching that one often sees going into the sole is not obviously present.

These are brass nailed. So in comparison to a wooden pegged sole, you'll be on the safe side to have two rows. Though, it is decorative, too.

The soles of my shoes are pegged with wooden nails, two rows, becoming asymetric towards the toe. Cleaning up another fairytale about pegged shoes. Of course, the welt is (hand)stitched to the sole.

Next time when you are in Vienna, you can ask Materna, Balint, Maftei etc. about this topic. These are the real experts.
