Well, your question is complicated and involved. There is no set answer. There are, however, brands that get a lot of respect and have relatively few dissenters. That's about the best we can do.

Maybe if you narrowed down what you are looking for we could be more helpful.

I was about to ask, what is the SF approved brand for Baby Wipes?

Come on, take it all in stride- we're just messing with you. Brands being talked about here for shirts and khakis range from JCrews, Uniqlos, Jantzen (and even Paul Frederick) to Incotex, RL, Borelli, etc.... whats more important here is get the ones that fit you best.

LOL... Gilwood as a fellow noob I feel your pain.

So far in the matter of hours (cumulative) I've spent perusing StyleForum, I've gathered Kenneth Cole is crap and Nudies/APCs are good for jeans (yeah, I really am a style neophyte, I have some 7 jeans and random stuff I like from Urban Outfitters/H&M). As an analogy, let's say you're at an audiophile forum. Bose = crap, B&W = good. Wow, how hard was that?

It's not like you really have to dissect each and every brand/clothing style/price range/etc... there's a bell curve that the collective generally gravitates toward - maybe not the cheapest, definitely not the most exotic, but good value, fashionable, and popular.

Saying "hey, wear what you like" is kinda like saying to a dude frustrated with girls "just be yourself..." which ultimately has some merit, it's total crap advice for someone who is a clean slate. It just is.

It's not like everyone here figured things out on their own. Otherwise why are they here? Fashion, taste, etc, are social things. This doesn't exist in a vacuum.
