Today I received my two pairs of shoes I ordered from Schubert Custom (http://schubertcustom.blogspot.com/ , check the Buying/Selling forum for more). I figure people would enjoy seeing pictures from various angles, in case you are curious or interested in purchasing. Disclaimer: I'm graduating college in a month, and currently my nice shoes are a black pair of Rockports and a brown suede/nubuck pair of Hushpuppies. I can't make references to really nice shoes; I just know these are significantly nicer than what I had. I'm pretty minimalist, and I just wanted nice basics that will serve me well at work and around the city. Not a fan of broguing - I just want something sleek and versatile. I've tried my best to get the pictures as crisp and true-to-color as possible. Unfortunately it's nighttime here, so Photoshop was used a bit to fix the pictures up. The flash on some of the pics makes the leather look sorta weird, but hopefully with the set of pictures you can get a good feel for the shoes. Black Double Monkstraps Top/Side Top Side Sole Buckle Detail I'm very impressed with the monkstraps. The leather is extremely smooth and shines very nicely with polish. The soles are mostly some kind of black surface, I'm assuming rubber. Fine by me. Brown Captoe (Bluchers? I still don't know exactly what those are) Top Side Sole Side (Closest color to real life) The brown shoes are quite plain, just as I wanted them. I'm more of a black shoe person (heresy!). The leather feels and looks very high quality, with a nice texture that my crappy shoes don't have. Definitely needed a shine; they were almost matte when they came out of the box. Both pairs are made from the same measurements, so the fit is (surprisingly) prettymuch the same. My biggest fear was that they'd show up and not fit at all - thankfully, they fit very well. I can tell they are made to my foot, as there isn't some random pocket of extra space that most normal shoes have. Snug, but not uncomfortable. Both are also made from pictures I supplied. The real things are very accurate to the pictures. Customer service was top-notch; he may be aiming to be the Jantzen of shoes, but price and quality seem to be where the comparison stops. I was a bit weary of paying for shoes halfway around the world upfront, but was relieved when Seok was taking the time to email back and forth about the measurements, pictures, and everything else. Responses were prompt. Packaging was secure, and comes with a little sheet on basic maintenance. Overall, I'm quite happy. The price is definitely right for someone in my position; hopefully once others have theirs they can chime in about how it compares with AEs and all those. I'm interested to see what others think about them.
