Anyone have any experience with Fragonard Paris? Will be in Paris in February so thought it might be something to check out.

Do people buy/sell/swap fragrances here? Or where are good places to do such things?

Apparently I have some valuable fragrances (discontinued) that I’m not sure where to list…

Not here really. Might want to try Basenotes, or just sell on Ebay.

Today I tried New York Intense. I thought it was going to be a fougere type fragrance, a masculine floral. Instead it’s bitter and green, similar to Yatagan - which I LOVE. But I’m not sure I need two things so similar.

I first tried it about 5 years ago and it was way too powdery for me. Just came across a sample vial I've had since then and I sprayed it the other day. It definitely has lost some intensity and the powderiness has calmed down. Still, there are other vintage masculines that are higher on my list, such as Armani's Eau Pour Homme (Cosmair distribution).

Other random question: is anyone aware of a site that allows you to assemble a custom sampler pack? There are a bunch of different scents (5-6) I want to try/buy as samplers rather than the full bottle, but I can't seem to find a site that does anything like that.

You can order samples of pretty much everything Luckyscent stocks, but it will cost you.

Also can try The Perfumed Court that stocks a good number of vintage/out of production scents.

Perfumed Court, Decant X, Fragrances Line… lots of sites offer decants/samples.

I wound up getting New York Intense. Once I got it home, I realized it’s not really like Yatagan other than they’re both masculine fragrances, but not obnoxiously so.

I strongly preferred New York Intense to the sample I have of Bois du Portugal, which is what it often gets compared to.

They're not bad. Good fragrances at reasonable prices. Worth checking out, though in Paris you'll have LOTS of options. When traveling there, I try to focus Parisian exclusives, stuff I can't get in the US, or the perfumes that are priced more reasonably in Europe than here in the States.

Today: Creed Royal Oud.

I’ve been dipping my toe into Creed. I’ve found that like with most houses, there are at most one or two I like enough to buy, with the others being variations that I don’t like as much.

For Creed, those two are Royal Oud and Green Irish Tweed. Though I’d like to try Erolfa at some point.

I have Aventus, Green Irish Tweed, and Millesime Imperial.
I barely wear the first two, not really sure why maybe burnout, but I reach for the third quite a bit.

I think part of it is that most houses have one or two signatures at the base that they seem to use for the majority of their fragrances. So there’s no point in getting them all.

Chanel Coromandel for me today. Amber/ Patchouli to my nose. Nice and relaxing smell for when you're stuck inside with a log fire because there's 1.5ft of snow outside and it's -4F.

I love oud- but this one just didn't work for me.

My favorite is L'Oud by Tauer, Tobacco Oud Tom Ford and Xerjoff Alexandria II.

I also own GIT - it's the perfect fragrance for a sweater and a shirt. It's what I imagine people wear at Balmoral.

I also own Aventus and also never wear it. It just smells like early 2010s to me - everyone had it - I think it's purely exhaustion.
