Check out his classifieds threads from last year.
Luckily I only lost 20 bucks in some ties...
KandK: 3.5 years to develop his scam.
Doesn't help you but that should have set alarm bells ringing immediately.
I have scammed several times by ebayers and a forum member
and hope you get your money back asap.
Bad news everyone: Maltess has been back. We've banned him as soon as we've become aware of his return. Previous usernames include Ackerman, Islay, Audley, Calvay, Bech, and, most recently, Bonney.
He posts from Spanish IPs. Pls report any possible scams asap.
Yeah, fairly sure I got taken by his Bonney alias.. Opened a Paypal dispute yesterday..
I have been scammed by this user in the id of Bonney.
Am talking with bank to try to get the money back...
FYI, I was able to get my money back from Paypal even though it was sent as personal. I had to do some 'splaining, but it all worked out.
Good Luck to all!!
Sorry this has been happening guys. I wish there was more we could do on our end. All we can do is look out for him, ban him when we find him, and warn you guys.
Glad you got your money back, Viral. Hope the others can too. What payment methods are easiest and toughest to get refunds?
I always advise Paypal, using a credit card. That way, you have 2 lines of defense. Don't ever accept using the personal payment, since you are esesntially waiving all your rights to a dispute.
Yea! I sent payment as personal payment but I used credit card to pay for that, and now I am working with credit card dispute department to deal with this issue!
Bah that sucks, sorry y'all were a part of that nonsense .. especially you @Viral =\ but glad you got it back buddy!
And then he came back and got another SF user.. that just sucks.
Thank mods for keeping on the lookout.
Unfortunately, it looks like we may have another one who posted as cooper02, arch_imp, and Mr Adamson. He mostly posts from Mexico but also a few times from Australia.
It's unfortunate I didn't read this thread before, as it seems I've also been scammed by a Spanish dude (as above) with the username Pollit, who was recently banned.
Again, it's the same old thing...he's new to PayPal, so in order to access the funds immediately without enduring the 21-day waiting period, he refunds the initial payment and asks you to send as a personal payment.
Then he responds stating he has access to the funds and will send you tracking info the following day or so.
Since I don't use a credit card as my primary source of funds for PayPal, I'm not optimistic about getting my U$300 back (or perhaps U$600 if PayPal doesn't take the pending hold for the initial return).
So, the lesson here is never to make personal payments through PayPal and always use a credit card as your primary source of funds for PayPal.
Best of luck, all.
