I'm about to place another order with Franco's and was considering trying Crema Nubiana this time. I've been using Saphir Renovateur. Any thoughts on the differences or which is preferable? Thanks.

Yes, use Crema Nubiana. Leave it sit for a few hours, then polish. I like it better than Renovateur-just my opinion-no data to back it up.

When I used it, the CN "lubed" up the leather and seemed to provide excellent moisture, while the SR cleaned the shoe, and didn't impart as much moisture. BUT, the Crema Nubiana has a *terrible* odor to it. Very chemical smelling. I stopped using it.

I like the smell of the Crema Nubiana/Alpina. For real, I think it smells great. Isn't the smell mainly beeswax? Either way, I'd say it's more of a waterproofer. If you use it often the leather gets a durable glossiness and water will bead on it. It's great for boots. The Renovateur is more of a restorer. Hard to describe but the Renovateur can sort of fatten up the leather. It's tremendous for new shoes that were not made last month, i.e., that have been stored in the shoe box for some time. Both are great products.

I've only been using these products for less than a year, so I'd defer to someone like Ron Rider if he has a different opinion of their relative merits.
