Rubber portion of "dovetailed" heels is worn down, can I replace just that piece?

I've got a pair of shoes with what I think are called "dovetailed"heels. It's like two jigsaw pieces that fit together- one piece rubber (back part of heel) and one piece leather. Do I simply replace the rubber portion of the heel when it wears down?

The "˜top lift' (top layer of the heel) comes usually fully assembled (leather and rubber) and gets replaced in one piece.

The rubber part of the top lift is one piece designed to accept the clicked out leather piece. It is laminated on top of the rubber. That's why from time to time the leather may de-laminate and separate from the rubber.
