Hey guys,
I never wear a suit, however, I just purchased a BB Fitzgerald. Got it tailored nice and slim with 1.75" cuffs on the pants. The only dress shoes I own are the cordovan RL Darltons. Are these a good match with the 'trad' nature of the suit? Should i opt for another pair of cordovans? Would these be better suited for my new charcoal suit? http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatP...=&sectionsize=

or maybe even these? http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatP...color=Burgundy

or is the RL Darlton the way to go

if you want to wear the darltons, go ahead, it would work perfectly. but not in the dressiest of occasions where you would want to wear a suit. let say a night occasion/function. or a business meeting.

but a wedding? sure. it would be an excellent and fun choice. it pairs well with the charcoa.

the cordovan monks are fine too. they are more dressy of course. burgundy and charcoal is perfect for a sharp look , but for a more dandified look the darltons are great, and that is what you usually want to do if you go to a wedding as a guest

I don't prefer bluchers with suits unless they are fairly sleek. I would go with the cordovan monkstraps - pretty versatile shoes.

Lucky you. Now you can disregard what Sho'nuff said and wear them just about anywhere. (Did you really give $700+? Ouch. Nice shoe tho.)

This.
While I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the darlton wingtip... I think that monk would look really sharp with the suit. Plus you won't run into a lot of guest with a pair of monks...let alone shell #8.

yeahhhhh - those monks are starting to look attractive. Maybe i should add them to my wardrobe anyway. Are the BB ones that same as the Alden? The BB are cheaper right now because of the sale

^Do you have the alden or BB branded ones? Not sure if there is a difference in quality or preferability between the two

I have the BB ones.
Quality-wise, there's no difference.
I think they're even on the same last although I wouldn't swear to it.
They're pretty sleek for an Alden.
