Does anyone know where to buy relatively inexpensive Belgian loafers, such as the ones that Luca Rubinacci and Glenn O'Brien wear? They tend to look like the image below. Thanks!

Loake lincoln in dark brown suede. Retail is about £140.00.

I don't think the Rubinacci loafers are too expensive though. I forgot how much they sold for. Their online store is down for this whole month of August 2012, but they'll probably be listed there when it comes back up.

Belgian loafers wear out very fast (faster than even driving loafers, for example); a friend of mine burnt through his in about a year IIRC. I'd be cautious about purchasing them if cost is particularly important or if you want these to be more than a semi-disposable shoe. If you won't wear them outside all that much, they'll last a lot longer though.

They are certainly very pretty though.

They have a store in NYC. They're not exactly inexpensive but they are wonderful. My understanding is they are the "originals".

They are fun. Note they are also available in more subdued colors.

Authentic Belgian Loafers were the comfy shoes of choice for Bernie Madoff. Surprised there weren't dozens of "slightly used" pairs on eBay after his unfortunate relocation.
