I most definitely can see where you’re coming from; I’ve been using chinos thus far with them.Is that a black blazer? If so, I'd recommend against it. The shirt and sweater are nice together and could be worn with chinos, jeans or cords but a black blazer just doesn't really work well with anything IMO. A black tux? Yes. A black suit for a funeral? Yes. But, not a black blazer - it's just out of place in other settings.
Whilst awaiting for a response on this post, I quite literally went out and purchased beige chinos and pulled out some burgundy loafers I had sitting in my wardrobe. It looks great, I’m just having issues integrating the blazer....+1, black = funeral.
ditch the jumper, wear a navy blazer instead. match it with a beige or tan chinos, then go for brown shoes, wingtips or a derby. a burgundy loafer would also work on this.
Thank you for the input, very detailed and much appreciated; You’re entirely correct with the issue of attempting to wear darker coloured pants in combination with the outfit. I’ll add a photo bellow of that very issue I ran into last week; Although I’m very found of the black blazer it may have to go if I can’t get anything to work.Forum lore driving people away, here by not actually answering the question. A black jacket is okay for some circumstances. Let's assume the occasion above is nighttime. The problem is the gray sweater with the black jacket. Not enough room in that color spectrum for dark pants without blurring two items together in color. That leaves unconventional options such as dark green and burgundy that most men don't have and probably don't want. The easiest solution is wear a dark blue sweater/jumper instead. It's also possible that the jacket is not black and we're in the wrong rabbit hole.
Shoes - it's much simpler. Black, burgundy (but definitely not with green), dark gray (which almost no one has), or dark brown. The more formal the occasion, the better black is.
