Your cable isn't working, it's showing the 1972 NBA season. Edit: You're going to be one sad puppy when you realize you're watching ESPN Classic.

No, that would be my Milwaukee Bucks, beaten by the Knicks the other night.

The Knicks suck and management doesn't care, they still turn a profit when they lose (have losing seasons). As a lapsed fan with sweet memories of the '69 and '72 championship run, I'd say you have a long vigil Dopey before you need the cable in June.

I was speaking with someone a few months back who suggested petitioning the City to seize the team under eminent domain. I think a credible case could be made that the team is a source of urban blight. The guy promised to bankroll the campaign, and while he could he was a bit drunk so I never followed up.

The Knicks won again last night, bringing their current streak up to either one or two (I can't remember). They are now on a tear heading into the playoff hunt. What was really nice about last night's W is that they won it in OT; if they can perform this well in the extra period, think about how strong they will be in the second season of the playoffs.

I'm a little bummed the Knicks winning streak came to an end tonight, but while a 40 point loss might seem like enough for three or four blowouts, it still counts as only one L. On the bright side, the Knicks got practice playing most of the game from behind, which may come in handy during their playoff run - it is likely that most of the teams they face, especially in the later rounds, will be favorites.

Did the Knicks ever bring over Frederic Weis? He could be the missing piece.

I bet none of you haters out there have noticed that the knicks are now over .300. That means they have one between a quarter and a third of their games. More importantly, they have the best record of each of the divisional last place teams in the Eastern Conference. Even if they were in the stronger Western Conference, they would have the second best record of all divisional last place teams. This two game winning tear they have been on of late has really helped them romp up the standings in time for a playoff berth.

I note that the Knicks tear was matched in a sorry way by the Celtics, who recently lost 2 games in a row for the first time this season. This foresahadows an early exit from the playoffs for the Celts.

I know all of you former doubters are coming around now that the Knicks have launched a brand new winning streak with their victory over the Bobcats last night. Tomorrow, Friday night, they will get a chance to extend the winning streak to two-in-a row when they take on the Hawks.

Wow, they're like the Rod Carew of the NBA.
