Props for letting that in - I don't know if I would have been brave enough to leave in some of the stuff on my player, especially some of my wife's older (IMHO cheese) metal and synthpop

I guess, and you may have romantically passed Connemara for corniest list to date. No judgement, just realness.

And I'm not a fan of 50 cent, but the hate that he gets is just unjustified. For the dude that criticized him for the lyrics to "In the Club" that's like criticizing a Formula 1 car for having a crappy interior... It's missing the point. That song was all about the beat, and while it sounds way dated to us now and has icky "Fitty" connotations, when it first came out (and music can be very different when it first comes out) that beat was undeniable. Paula Abdul could have freestyled over that beat and it would have been a "club banga." Real talk. If anything, you'd be better off critiquing 50's delivery & voice than his lyrics, as it wouldn't be hard to come up with examples of songs of his with "quality" lyrics-- but his voice consistently annoys the hell out of me.

Exactly my point. How can he be taken seriously as an MC when the only part of his album thats any good is DRE on the boards? I've never heard anything from him that was more than good production. He lives off his "thug" posturing, steroids, his street cred, and beats that should probably be going to a more talented rapper. Unjustified? Why is my saying that the guy couldn't rap his way out of a paper bag unjustified? It's true. I thought In Da Club sucked royal nutsack when it came out. I couldn't believe that Dre would sign a hack like 50 to Aftermath. At least Eminem had lyrical skills, and his delivery was unique.

Alright then, here's mine today. I don't have my computer so I will just shuffle through on the iPod.

Province- TV on the Radio
The Lyre of Orpheus- Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Pickin Pickin- The Fleshtones
Losing California- Sloan
Subbacultcha- Pixies
Almost Blue- Chet Baker
Cinnamon Girl- Neil Young
What's So Funny 'bout Peace Love and Understanding- Elvis Costello
Smog Moon- Matthew Sweet
Motor Away- Guided by Voices
Puke + Cry- Dinosaur Jr.
The Light From a Cake- Camper Van Beethoven
Animal Shapes- Silver Jews
Killer Parties- The Hold Steady
Year in Song- Mary Margaret O'Hara
Barret's Privateers- Stan Rogers
When You Sleep- My Bloody Valentine
Hot Water and Milk- Spiderbait

I skipped over a couple because they were by the same artist already on the list.

But that tells me that I don't have enough cheesy embarrassing songs on my iPod. I may need to borrow a few from Connemara.

Truth be told, I love me some Neil Diamond; he just didn't show up on the list.

Yes, old is implied in hippy. Were you younger, i might call you a wannabe hippy.

For my own music, i alternate between hippy and
icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif
depending on my mood. I hate it the recent music.
