The Onion AV Club has a weekly feature in which B-list indie music celebrities talk about the first 10 songs that come up on their mp3 or media players. I'm not in this forum often enough to know if something similar has ever been posted here, but it seems like an interesting discussion.

(Include the lame stuff. If "Lips of an Angel" comes up, don't claim it was Pavement.)

    Mine:
    1. Go-Gos, "Fading Fast"
    2. Oasis, "Married with Children"
    3. My Chemical Romance, "The End"
    4. Weakerthans, "One Great City"
    5. Avenged Sevenfold, "Blinded in Chains"
    6. Jesus and Mary Chain, "Cherry Came Too"
    7. Smiths, "Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now"
    8. Psychedelic Furs, "Pretty in Pink" (album version)
    9. INXS, "Listen Like Thieves"
    10. Hot Water Music, "Position"

Come on, let's see how much cooler you are than me.

    5. Queens of the Stone age, "Little sister"
    6. Bee Gees, "you Could be Dancin'"
    7. Nick Cave, "Red Right Hand"

I use it all the time when I'm listening at the computer, but not when I'm using my ipod itself.

The first 10 from my Party Shuffle:

    1. Fool In the Rain (Led Zeppelin)
    2. Appalachia Waltz (Yo-Yo Ma, Mark O'Connor, Edgar Meyer)
    3. Tennessee Waltz (Bill Monroe)
    4. Neville St. Claire's Nostalgia (Patrick Gowers/Sherlock Holmes Soundtrack)
    5. Shine (Benny Goodman)
    6. Stringing the Blues (Joe Venuti's Blue Four)
    7. When You Got a Good Friend (Robert Johnson)
    8. Unequal Love (Del McCoury Band)
    9. Church (Lyle Lovett)
    10. Kim (Charlie Parker)

Not too bad, actually. I was afraid of what might show up! [IMG]

Ali's Historical Theme Song - Muhammad Ali
    Godchild - Miles Davis
    Sweet Road - Animal Collective
    Mojo Pin - Jeff Buckley
I Love Rock N Roll - Jesus and Mary Chain
King of Rock - Run DMC
Fistfull of Love - Antony and the Johnsons

That shuffle way over-represented hip-hop as relative to the contents of my hard drive. I thinks sometime iTunes goes on a theme kick.

I have no ipod, so I had to use Media Player on shuffle mode. I almost never use this mode because I have a lot of music I really don't want to listen to most of the time... as you can see:

    Third Eye Open - 08 - Ticks and Leeches.mp3
    Sade - Lovers Rock - 04 - Somebody Already Broke My Heart.mp3
    Velvet Acid Christ -Pestilence-06-f***_you_bitch_(gothqueenbitch).mp3
depeche mode - 03 - Breathing In Fumes.mp3 (some kind of soundboard rip)
    meters\\Trick Bag 1976\\Mister Moon.mp3
    boards of canada - geogaddi - 11 - energy warning.mp3
Beastie Boys - Intergalactic (Olde Mix).mp3
    AC-DC -Live-12- Highway To Hell.mp3
prodigy\\03 - Goa (The Heat The Energy pt II).mp3
    Ian Dury & The Blockheads - 10 More Turnips - 08 - Happy Hippy.mp3

I think I'll leave it playing like this and see what else comes up. I sometimes find things I completely forgot I had this way.

BTW, Playlist estimated time = 1207:25:30 [IMG] Just over 50 days playing 24/7.
