I bought a merino sweater from ebay and there are two little moth holes near the neck, unmentioned in the listing. It was very cheap ($40 for a dries knit), but at the same time I feel a bit ripped off. On the other hand, I can probably have it repaired for another $20 and still have got a deal.

What would you guys do? Send it back or keep? It's quite nice apart from the holes.

Ask for $10 back
If it's still a deal keep and get $ to offset
Seller may not have noticed but take pics

As annoying as it may be, I would probably keep it and give the seller a negative or neutral review (not that he cares). But I think I'm quite poor compared to other people on this board. Maybe I would send it back when I would have more money.

Then you're a dick.

Basically, just do what Sparrow said. I've been on both sides of that scenario and civilly asking for a partial refund has always been just fine for both parties.
And unless it's a super fine knit, a couple minutes with a needle and thread can usually cinch together small holes to the point where they're only noticeable from close up.

Yea, I would never just leave negative feedback; I'm not even sure the seller noticed the holes. It is an extremely fine knit, I can barely see the threads.

I think there are places you can send that will repair moth holes. No idea how well they work. Anyone done it?

You might want to have it cleaned to make sure there are no eggs in it or it could be the most expensive knit you've ever bought.

Our man GDL just hit 30k posts, so to celebrate there is a super special SF discount on NMWA. This is a good chance to jump on the new Schneider drops in particular (or Buttero, or Porter bags,. or Inis Meain or, or or or .....) so I wouldn't sleep on it. Basically the lowest prices on any of this stuff you'll see until 5 months from now when sales hit and stock is low.

Alright guys. Code is 30000poasts - valid for 30 hours (or so) and on the whole store except sale items.

30k posts on this forum... really??

If you read my original post, I was simply gauging people's opinions on whether or not they would have made a big deal out of it, as I originally did not. Then someone mentioned the legalities behind it, so I looked into it. Not contacting them about it again since it's not worth the time/effort.

But your analogy is off - if a waiter gave me a bill that was 30% lower than what I owed, and I paid and was leaving when they said "wait, wait, we gave you the wrong bill!", I'd be pissed (moreso than I am over this). There's a different between trying to capitalize on a mistake and being a benefactor (unknowingly) of an error.

I usually check the bill, and will tell the waiter if they undercharged. You do know that that dude will probably have to eat the difference otherwise, right? I also tip well and try to be a good customer. And yes, I did this when I was a broke ass student as well.

In this case, I wouldn't even have given the matter a second thought.

I think that not being an asshole is pretty much the only way of not turning out miserable person.

It's illegal to make your waiter pay the difference but if it's a hole in the wall they prolly don't care

Some pictures about the production of japanese denim, maybe somebody finds them interessting:

Speaking of Japanese denim (welcome back to 2000 & late), I don't think this was posted outside of the Self Edge thread, and it's a worthwhile read even beyond the resident denim nerd faction. It also includes Kiya's Rick Owens story.

On my last trip to NYC i sat down and did a lengthy interview with my friend Rob Lim, aka Superfuture's "readytoignite", for his Caught In the Crossfire blog. This didn't turn out to be the usual Self Edge related interview, if you're interested it's been posted online and broken up into two parts.
