1. And... we're back. You'll notice that all of your images are back as well, as are our beloved emoticons, including the infamous :foo: We have also worked with our server folks and developers to fix the issues that were slowing down the site.

There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

I actually think small starts at 4 for men because 1 2 3 are women's sizing.

ask him why he develops his own textiles when there are mills out there, including ones with multigenerational knowledge, that spend all their time developing fabrics and that produce some very nice stuff. i suspect it's just because he has a particular textile in mind that doesn't exist otherwise, but would be interesting to hear his thoughts.

Ask him about synthetic fabrics and why he chooses or doesn't choose to incorporate them in certain fabrics.

Ask him if he's offended that I thought his name was "Stephen" until maybe a couple of months ago.

Wait, no, don't ask that, it's embarrassing.

Excellent RFT from my brother (background - our parents live in upstate NY, and I had suggested one of the scarves from Blackbird as a possible gift for our mother):

If you look at the care tags on all his clothes, you'll notice the percentages don't add up. 95% wool, 3% cashmere, then nothing. 2% that's unaccounted for. Well, as it turns out, that 2% is the reason Schneider eschews mills that have been around for generations, the reason he has to develop fabrics himself. Because everything he makes contains 2% love.

    made me think of this:

Well, as it turns out, that 2% is the reason SRULI RECHT eschews mills that have been around for generations, the reason he has to develop fabrics himself. RFT: I put in an order yesterday for a pair of the black angled seam cotton/cashmere MMM denim that I had been eyeing all season long. Got them for 50% off, and it really does feel good to wait till your number. I loved the look of them (there isn't much to hate; black twisted seam jeans) but I set a price in my head at which I thought they were worth, and $275 was that number. Can't wait for em to come in.

Reminds me when I visited a huge modern/post-modern self mutilation "art" exhibit at the Geffen in LA when I was a teenager. Too many fucked up people.
