Do you mean cache? Because their's no inherent reason house brands can't be well designed. And either way there are house brands with both good design and cache (Barneys, Oak IMO, etc..)

Just browsed Oak's collection. Throw an assymetric something on it seems to be their design philosophy.

What exactly do you mean when you use the word, "cache?" It's not that house labels are inherently "bad," but it's not exactly a secret that they exist primarily to fill in gaps in a collection with cheaper alternatives. And often they're not poorly designed because someone else already designed the items first. Again, the actual item very well could be appealing both in design and construction, but its presence is a constant reminder that you're not getting the original. YMMV, but I don't own a single house brand.

What about Secret Service's house brand, Crate?

(one of) the reason(s) stanleyvanburen's fits never work is because the guy never explores proportion play. it's all rail-thin flannel shirts.

I don't think the world is ready for stanleyvanburen wearing Rick Owens. But you know, maybe if he rolled up his sleeves once in a while we could call that a step forward.
