That extra nail near the lift isn’t consistent with the newer nail patterns. This could be different now than then. Others might chime in...

Thanks for your help, perhaps they’re by Church’s,in any event I did score a $40 ebay pair of awesome C&J for Barneys NY split toes with dainite soles,I have many vintage American shoes,my faves being heavyweight longwing Florsheim Imperials and Hanovers, however the Crockett and Jones has a substantial quality of assertiveness that I’d like to find more of—again thanks to suitedDx and mrjamescost for your input

I know I'll probably get a biased response here, but here goes. Looking to pick up either the Alden wingtip boot in tan calf, or the Crockett & Jones Skye in Chestnut (calf); both in double leather sole. The Skye boot is a little darker and a bit more expensive. Any thoughts?

Skye III in chestnut - which appears to adopt more of a reddish look when highly polished - are very nice. Glad I own them. However, I’m not sure they come in double leather sole.

When it comes to casual boot fit I have to go with Alden. If you’re in the US, when it’s time for resole, the price will also be half of C&J. Smart shoes hands down C&J though.

It does. C&J in NYC had it on sale for $575 (usd) back in July. I’d probably prefer it in dainite though if I could get that cheap.
